If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or looking for support with personal growth, counseling can help. The first session is a great way to see if it's the right fit. We also offer free 15-minute consultations where you can get your questions answered and meet your counselor before committing.
The first session is typically an intake or assessment appointment where we get to know each other. You'll share what brings you to counseling, your goals, and relevant background.
Most clients can self-refer by simply contacting the practice directly. If you have insurance, you can call the number on your card and ask if a referral is needed.
Yes, we are in-network with several insurance plans. Here's a quick breakdown of how insurance typically works for counseling:
In-network means we have a contract with your insurance provider, which usually means lower out-of-pocket costs for you. If we are out-of-network with your plan, you may still be able to use your benefits, but your costs may be higher. We recommend calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card to verify your benefits before your first session. Ask them if mental health services are covered, if you will have to pay a co-pay and if you have a deductible that needs to be met.
Deductibles are the amount you pay out of pocket before your insurance begins covering costs. For example, if your deductible is $500, you'll pay the full session fee until you've met that amount — after that, your insurance will start sharing the cost. For some plans, deductibles do not apply to mental health.
You can schedule a session directly through our online booking page, by calling or texting us at (605) 639-5641, or by emailing us at thelifecounselingoffice@gmail.com.(mailto:thelifecounselingoffice@gmail.com) We will send you a client portal link where you can sign all of the needed forms, fill out an intake form and upload your insurance and payment information.
Yes! We offer a sliding scale fee based on income for clients who are uninsured, whose plan we are not in-network with, or who prefer not to use their insurance for other reasons. Reach out to us directly and we'll be happy to send you our current fee schedule.
